Description:
Nau mai haere mai ... Welcome ...
"Rotorua - feel the spirit – Manaakitanga" is the catch-cry . . . A deep-rooted Maori cultural tradition, 'Manaakitanga' places a responsibility on us as your hosts to give you the best of ourselves, our time and our history.
You will be collected port-side by your native guides and travel via the CBD of Tauranga before embarking on your journey.
Be immersed in 'live commentary' as your Indigenous guide explains the stories of the land and people through 'Volcanology' and 'Science', linking it back to the 'Myths & Legends' of 'Maori - the Indigenous People of New Zealand', enroute to New Zealand's premier destination, Rotorua.
First stop will be a drive past the 'Rotorua Lakefront' and 'Government gardens', a slice of heritage important to the history of this famous New Zealand city.
Thereafter, enjoy the gentle stroll through the only 'Living Maori Village in New Zealand' - 'Whakarewarewa' as your Maori guides navigate you through this wonderland of 'Geo-thermal and Geyser' activity. See the magical 'Pohutu Geyser' and 'Prince of Wales' geysers as they play from their natural origins in this thermal park.
You will be entertained by your hosts through 'song' and 'dance' as they perform traditional items as part of a traditional 'Maori Cultural Performance'.
Time to browse through the various 'arts & crafts' shops is encouraged as part of Indigenous Trails committment to Responsible Travel practicies of buying 'locally made crafts', rather than mass produced souvenirs!
Making our way back toward the Port of Tauranga, we will have time to stop at a local 'Kiwi Fruit orchard' to view this amazing fruit, one of the leading contributors to the economy of the region, concluding your days excursion as we make our way back to your vessel.
